HỆ THỐNG TRAMWAY ĐÀ NẴNG

Introduction

Transportation mechanization is an inevitable development trend of a civilized society. With socio-economic development, people's living standards have been improved and the number of vehicles such as cars and motorcycles has been increased as well.

Common transportation have energy using efficiency 3 times as high as individual ones. If we develop public transportation system properly and attract people to use it, we can economize energy and reduce air pollution generation and greenhouse effect. Public transportation will be able to do that only when it meets service quality. Convenience and safety are two main points for any public transportation systems.
Experience in common transportation from Hanoi and HCM city shows that it is necessary to plan infrastructure serving for public transportation in municipal development process. If we don't pay enough attention on this issue, overcoming later consequence will be very difficult.

Common transportation is benefit for society. When people's incomes are not high (shown in GDP), subsidy for this system to operate is inevitable. In the conditions of our country, we should not pay much attention only to profit brought by common transportation but also to social benefits like reducing traffic jams, accidents and protecting environment and municipal civilization...

Popular means of public transportation in the world for carrying passengers include buses, tramways, metro.... Among these means, tramways of new model can carry a large amount of passengers and have a number of advantages in economy, environment, land use and traffic safety, suitable to cities with population of 200.000 to 1,000,000 people. Besides, tramways are also a driving force for a sustainable socio-economic development and that is why they become more popular means of transportation in the world.
Average daily transportation density in the main streets of the City (from 6am to 7pm) is about 2000 motorcycles/hour. In some main routes such as Song Han Bridge, Ba Hue crossroads, Hoang Dieu street... in peak hours (at the beginning and at the end of working day) , transportation density may be 5 times as much as average  one. Pollution indicators in the main lines change according to the density of vehicles. Vehicles impact mostly on urban air environment.

Number of vehicles in Danang city is rather high in comparison with other cities in the country. Thanks to infrastructure development, especially, to the urban transportation network in recent years, Danang has not yet faced with issues such as traffic jams or increasing traffic accidents, but with a current rapid socio-economic growth rate, municipal transportation will become a serious problem as in Hanoi and HCM city in the next decade.
